Tenneco Planning 60th Anniversary Celebration of Landmark Monroe Ride Solutions Plant in Sint-Truiden, Belgium

Opened in June 1964, plant helped fuel the iconic Monroe brand, of suspension technology for global OEMs

Sint-Truiden, Belgium, May 6, 2024 – Tenneco, one of the world’s premier suppliers of systems and components for the automotive, commercial truck and other mobility categories, is finalizing plans to celebrate the 60th anniversary of its landmark Monroe Ride Solutions manufacturing complex in Sint-Truiden, Belgium. The celebration, which will include the facility’s employees and partners as well as retirees, will take place June 1 from 5 pm until midnight. Festivities among others include food, dancing and a live band.

Opened in June 1964, the now 54.000 m2 facility was the first production plant outside the U.S. to serve the iconic Monroe brand of shock absorbers, struts and other suspension components. Monroe® OE Solutions and Monroe® Intelligent Suspension components and systems are now used by leading vehicle OEMs and other customers throughout Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and other regions.

“Monroe is one of the world’s most recognized and trusted brands of vehicle components,” said Mebarek Yahyaoui, Vice President and General Manager, EMEA, of Tenneco’s Monroe Ride Solutions business. “By the time the Sint-Truiden plant opened, Monroe had already established a nearly 50-year record of technological leadership within North America. We quickly found that the same commitment to innovation, quality and performance was equally attractive to European OEMs, vehicle repair professionals and consumers.”

Throughout the decades, the Sint-Truiden plant remains a leading production facility serving manufacturers of light vehicles, commercial trucks, and off-road equipment. The plant is the primary manufacturing location of Monroe OE Solutions passive dampers – today featured in millions of vehicles worldwide – and a strategic production site of Monroe Intelligent Suspension electronic suspension components for select global customers, including British supercar manufacturer McLaren Automotive.

Other leading OEMs served by the plant include Daimler, Ford, Jaguar Land Rover, PACCAR-DAF-Leyland, Scania, Volvo Group, and VW Group. Team members also manufacture a variety of internal components used in other Monroe Ride Solutions plants worldwide.

“Throughout our history in Sint-Truiden, Monroe has been a source of pride, and we are looking forward to celebrate this moment” said Sint-Truiden plant manager Paul Rijs.
